Overview: As a Senior Tax Analyst at Litera, you will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about driving innovation in the legal technology space. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and collaborate with industry experts to deliver solutions that make a real difference in the legal profession.

A Day in the Life:

  • Prepare annual tax provision calculations
  • Prepare account reconciliations for various tax accounts
  • Assist in forecasting tax accounts
  • Assist in integration of acquired entities from an income, sales, property, and VAT tax perspective
  • Prepare and file all US state sales and use tax returns on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, as required using Avalara
  • Prepare state apportionment schedules
  • Work with third-party tax advisors to coordinate and provide support for the timely delivery of all domestic and international corporate tax filings for all legal entities of the company
  • Assist in voluntary disclosure agreements related to sales and income taxes
  • Gather files to support historical tax filings as required under applicable statute of limitations
  • Research/respond to inquiries from taxing authorities
  • Monitor US Tax mailbox and escalate issues as needed
  • Gather information for company responses during tax audits
  • Assist in development of a worldwide tax calendar
  • Prepare quarterly transfer pricing calculations
  • Prepare estimated income tax filings
  • Prepare annual tax registration filings
  • Collaborate with and support global cross-functional teams in business development, legal, finance, accounting and treasury
  • Monitor pending or new tax legislation
  • Carry out other projects, as requested

Role progression:

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Complete New Hire Orientation and training sessions presented by your peers
  • Become familiar with Avalara and the current sales and use tax calculations and filings
  • Monitor tax calendar and file returns as needed
  • Understand and document the current tax filing requirements and deadlines of all company legal entities in all taxing jurisdictions
  • Understand areas of tax exposure for the company for all legal entities
  • Be an integral member in the legal entity rationalization effort understanding the tax implications of any reorganization proposed and implemented

About You:

  • Organized, independent professional, with experience in project management
  • Honest communicator and problem solver
  • Focused on hitting deadlines and transparent when things go wrong
  • Enjoy brainstorming to find better solutions (not concerned about being wrong)
  • Enjoy working for a company that is highly acquisitive
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience at a Big 4 firm or a multinational corporate tax department, with:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
    • An ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
    • Experience in US and international taxation
    • Experience with ASC 740 (Income Taxes) and its applications to financial statements and mergers and acquisitions
    • Excellent written and verbal skills and ability to interact with the management team
    • Experience with Avalara, NetSuite, OneSource or related tax software a plus
    • Experience with mergers and acquisitions and related due diligence a plus
    • A strong desire to keep learning new things!
