What do we do?
Paddle offers digital product companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.
We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 6000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.
The Role:
As a Tax Manager within Paddle's Tax team, you will play a central role in a complex and expanding tax function that is integral to Paddle's business model. With tax at the heart of Paddle's value proposition as a Merchant of Record, the team is recognised as a key driver of the company's overall strategy.
You will report directly to the VP of Tax and will take ownership of tax accounting, reporting, and mixed compliance activities across the organisation. You'll work as part of a collaborative global team of 10 with the ability to draw on the support of other managers and analysts within the group to deliver outcomes across both direct and indirect tax matters.
The ideal candidate is technically strong and growing in their autonomy, capable of owning tax processes end-to-end while building their profile as a trusted cross-functional partner. You will serve as a go-to technical resource across the broader business on both compliance and commercial tax matters, and play an active role in shaping how the tax function evolves.
This role is to be based in London, UK, with the aim to be in office 1-2 times a week.
What you'll do:
The portfolio of work will vary depending on the experience of the candidate but there is opportunity for the right candidate to build a broad and varied tax role, which could include any of the following:
Taking ownership of tax compliance for Paddle across multiple territories, including all associated filings, payments, accounting entries, and audit management.
Driving transfer pricing policy, R&D claims, and tax planning activities.
Leading one-off projects such as the establishment of new corporate structures or registrations, and managing ad hoc tax queries from Paddle's customers.
Managing relationships with third-party advisors and agents, ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of work across relevant areas.
Drawing on the expertise and capacity of other managers and analysts within the group to coordinate and execute on broader workstreams.
Collaborating with and supporting more junior members of the team, contributing to a positive and knowledge-sharing culture.
Proactively monitoring global tax policy and legislative developments, and assessing their implications for Paddle.
We'd love to hear from you:
You would welcome the opportunity to work in our London headquarters 1 day a week.
You have substantial experience in a similar role within direct, indirect, or mixed tax, ideally within a complex multinational environment.
You have a recognised professional accounting and/or tax qualification.
You have 3-10 years of post-qualification experience in a tax role and are looking to take on broader ownership and responsibility.
You have a strong working knowledge of the tax environment for multinational groups.
You are comfortable managing and influencing cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the business.
You have experience managing relationships with external advisors and holding them to account for delivery.
You have handled complex, large-dataset Excel and Google Spreadsheets in your day-to-day work.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, NetSuite, SQL, or other tax technology
You are able to work with a high level of accuracy and meet strict deadlines.
You are self-motivated, curious, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
You are ambitious and keen to develop your career in a fast-moving, commercially driven environment.
