Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2026 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic and skilled tax professional to join our finance team as the Tax Manager, Compliance. As the first member of the finance team whose role focuses exclusively on tax, you will have the unique opportunity to establish high quality tax operations for the company and support Flex through its next phase of growth and operational maturity. In this role, you will be designing and implementing new processes and controls for the tax function, strengthening compliance, financial reporting, and visibility into tax work streams. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, has excellent collaboration skills (this role will interface heavily with our finance, legal and compliance teams, as well as external tax providers), and is invigorated by solving problems and building processes from the ground up in a fast-paced environment. This position will report directly to the VP, Controller and will be located in our New York headquarters on a hybrid basis.

- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, maintaining key relationships across multiple functions including Accounting, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and People teams, as well as external tax advisors and auditors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years experience within the business services tax group at a reputable tax advisory firm (Big 4 experience preferred) or on an in-house corporate tax team.

- Demonstrated experience with ASC 740, income tax provisions, and coordinating with external tax advisors
- Exceptional organizational, project management and communication skills, including ability to independently manage external consultants and drive work streams from kick off to closure.
- Experience working in a high-growth company is a plus; comfortable navigating in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and multiple priorities.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and ability to operate as the company’s sole dedicated tax employee while leveraging external partners
- Growth mindset; looking for someone who aspires to grow with Flex and is willing to stretch beyond the initial scope of the role and take on new challenges
