Requirements
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or ACT is highly desirable in addition to completed postgraduate studies in Maltese Tax or a Maltese Tax practitioners’ qualification
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a tax manager position either at a big four Maltese Audit firm, or within a Maltese Group of Companies preferably in the Investment Industry
- Strong understanding of Maltese Taxation Law especially Income and Value-Added Taxation.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to senior management
- Some exposure to UK and USA tax is a benefit
- In-depth knowledge of Maltese tax regulations and reporting
- Native-level English
Responsibilities
- Minimize VAT and Income Tax across the entire group by leading and advising tax planning for investment transactions as well as routine working capital transactions across the Group.
- Ensure the Groups tax affairs remain in order and all income tax and VAT returns are filed on time and up to date.
- Work hand in hand with the Accounting, Advisory, Legal and investment departments to advise on tax efficient structuring of routine as well as ad-hoc transactions.
- Manage key projects to drive group tax efficiencies including a) acquisition of fiscal unit status for the Maltese tax reporting group, b) acquisition of VAT Group Status for the Maltese tax reporting group, and c) Group Tax restructuring projects to eliminate reverse recharge VAT on inter-group transfers.
- Manage and engage external tax advisors where required.
- Project manage US tax advisors to ensure all tax reporting for US GP and LP entities and structures are filed on time and that US entities remain tax efficient.
- Project manage EU and US tax advisors in relation to investor and entity tax reporting of the Maltese SICAV Fund.
- Work hand in hand with the Finance team to prepare annual tax computations for all entities in the group in Malta and the UK.
- Work hand in hand with the Malta Finance Team to bring all Maltese Tax affairs up to date.
- Perform general and routine assessments of the company’s tax affairs to determine and report where tax efficiencies can be driven.
- Compile and report monthly to management on the status of the tax affairs of each entity within the group.
- Compile and present forecasted taxation figures for inclusion in the groups 12-month cash flow forecasting prepared by the Finance Team.
