About the Firm
We are representing a boutique tax practice with deep roots in the consumer packaged goods space. The firm operates at the intersection of U.S. and cross-border tax, serving foreign-parented companies with U.S. subsidiaries, high-net-worth individuals with global footprints, and domestic businesses with complex international exposure. The culture is entrepreneurial, tech-forward, and built for self-starters who want to grow into a long-term leadership role.
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Senior International Tax Manager to serve as the head of their U.S. tax function. This is a review-focused role — the India delivery center handles preparation, and this person steps in as the senior reviewer, client coordinator, and day-to-day leader of the tax department. Beyond compliance, the firm conducts proactive tax advisory, and this person will be expected to bring strategic thinking to client relationships — not just sign off on returns, but help clients navigate complex cross-border decisions, planning opportunities, and evolving tax positions.
This role is ideal for an experienced international tax professional who is ready to step out of a large firm environment and into something more autonomous, relationship-driven, and long-term.
Key Responsibilities
Review complex federal and state tax returns across individuals, S-corps, LLCs, trusts, and international filings — no preparation required
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and coordinating on deliverables, deadlines, and planning needs
Coordinate effectively with the offshore delivery team in India, delegating work, reviewing outputs, and managing workflow across the full tax department
Handle complex U.S. international tax matters including Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credits, and cross-border structuring
Review international information returns including Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 8865, 1120-F, 8992, 8993, and related filings
Advise clients on inbound and outbound U.S. international tax matters, transfer pricing concepts, and tax treaty positions
Conduct technical tax research and produce well-reasoned written analysis
Take on increasing leadership responsibilities over time as a long-term partner in the growth of the practice
