Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of all state and local tax filings, payments and ASC740 related to state taxation

  • Manage an outsourced compliance team

  • Develop an offshore tax function

  • Develop and implement processes to support/improve the state tax function

  • Prepare initial returns for more complex State & Local Income/Franchise Tax returns and demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts

  • Review tax returns prepared by outsourced and offshore state tax professionals  

  • Ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance with all tax laws and regulations.

  • Develop strategies for tax savings opportunities

    • Conduct multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews that analyze income, franchise, sales and use, payroll, valorem taxes, and others to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, credits and incentives, and corporate structures that can reduce the company’s tax burden

  • Support the business as they develop bids and contracts with state and local tax technical advice

  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on tax-related issues and assist with tax planning initiatives.

  • Actively manage state credit & incentive program

  • Manage and oversee all tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate any changes to internal stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field requires, CPA Preferred

  • 6+ years of experience in tax accounting and compliance (public accounting or industry)

  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and taxation laws and regulations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in managing and leading an outsources and offshore teams effectively. (3+ years preferred)

  •  Detail-oriented and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of financial systems such as SAP, Costpoint, Microsoft Dynamics & Hyperion.

  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel/Power BI, Alteryx, etc.
