We are searching for a Vice President to lead our Cost Basis Operations within the Goldman Sachs Tax Department. The Tax division supports the firm’s business lines by evaluating tax consequences and reputational risks associated with operations, reporting obligations, and transactions. Tax Operations ensures the firm’s compliance with reporting authorities globally and manages inquiries from various business units across established and emerging markets. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate and timely account documentation, monitoring, withholding, client information reporting, and regulatory filings. Additionally, the team analyzes new regulations and develops process and system changes, optimizing procedures and building scalability through data analytics and efficient technology use.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
  • Develop team capabilities, provide consistent feedback, and report to senior management.
  • Promote partnership and collaboration within the organization.
  • Build expertise in relevant tax systems, procedures, and requirements.
  • Gain a broad understanding of multiple business lines across the firm, with exposure to various divisions and groups.
  • Work with internal and external advisors to interpret new regulations and integrate new business with Tax Operations.
  • Apply an inquisitive approach to identify control weaknesses, mitigate risks, enhance client experience, and advance process automation.
  • Act as a risk manager by continually assessing the tax regulatory environment and ensuring the firm’s compliance with tax reporting obligations.
  • Collaborate with management and teams across regions to drive initiatives and resolve issues.
  • Design workflows and technical solutions for systems and applications.
  • Generate innovative ideas to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Remain adaptable and contribute to additional activities as needed.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree and more than 6 years of relevant work experience in Operations, Tax, Finance or related fields, including leading teams, functions, and project management.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations such as Cost Basis and 1099 reporting requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate with professionals across the firm to coordinate efforts, resolve client issues, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Experience managing functional teams and providing coaching and mentorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, drive results, solve problems, and be accountable for deadlines and outcomes.
  • Strong organizational and risk management skills.
  • Comfort presenting to executive leadership.
  • Proven ability to thrive in team environments; excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure, prioritize, and make decisions in fast-paced situations.
  • Consistent track record of accuracy and attention to detail; exhibits flexibility and is a proactive self-starter.
