- Translate complex tax regulations into clear customer guidance, ensuring correct use of supplier vs. agent invoices, compliance with local e-invoicing mandates, and VAT reclaim processes.
- Provide hands-on support with VAT invoice retrieval, AP workflows, reporting, and export processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Product Marketing and Tax SMEs to raise, track, and resolve issues (e.g. missing VAT, invoice structure, country-specific compliance).
- Contribute to customer-facing documentation and internal knowledge bases to clarify how Navan invoices can be used for VAT reclaim across different markets.
- Lead training, collateral and office hours with AMs and Support teams to strengthen tax and invoicing expertise.
- Monitor regulatory developments (e.g. EU e-invoicing rollouts, Spain/Italy clearing requirements) and provide feedback to Product on compliance risks and customer needs.
What we’re looking for
- Indirect Tax, VAT Analyst, Accounting, or Audit experience (Big 4, VAT IT, Fintua, Taxback or similar).
- Strong grasp of VAT principles, invoice compliance, e-invoicing mandates, and cross-border tax complexities (e.g. disclosed agent models, country clearing systems).
- Analytical mindset, comfortable breaking down regulatory and technical issues into actionable solutions for clients.
- Ability to explain tax and ERP concepts clearly to both finance teams and non-experts; skilled at building trust with senior finance and tax stakeholders.
- Works seamlessly with Product, Engineering, AMs, and clients to drive outcomes.
- Detail-oriented, curious, and eager to grow into a trusted tax and technology advisor.
- Fluency in either German or French is highly preferred.
- Experience with e-invoicing implementations in Europe (Germany, France, Spain, Italy) - strong plus.
- Familiarity with lodge card programs (Airplus, Amex iBTA) and how they affect invoice issuance - preferable.
