Freshfields US is seeking a highly qualified associate to join our U.S. Tax practice in our New York office. Ideal candidates will be class year 2021-2023 and have experience at a leading Am Law firm.
Freshfields’ global tax practice is widely recognized for advising on the most sophisticated matters for the world’s most prestigious clients. In the U.S., our tax team works closely with our market-leading corporate, finance, and litigation practices to deliver integrated advice on headline-making deals. Our practice spans M&A, private equity and other investment fund work, joint ventures, and capital markets transactions.
Successful candidates will:
- Have prior experience at a leading Am Law firm.
- Have hands-on experience advising on the tax aspects of corporate transactions, including public and private M&A, fund formation, and financing. We are also open to considering candidates with a primary focus on funds (sponsor and investor side) who wish to continue specializing in the area.
- Possess strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment and be eager to work closely with partners, counsel, and colleagues across practice groups.
- Be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams efficiently.
Our New York tax group is dynamic and deeply integrated with Freshfields’ global platform. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that plays a critical role in advising multinational corporations, private equity sponsors, and financial institutions on their most complex and strategic transactions. Candidates must be admitted to practice in New York.
Compensation
Freshfields US LLP associates are compensated based on leading market rates. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $235,000–$310,000, commensurate with experience, and the firm provides bonuses to associates in good standing consistent with the California and New York legal markets.
