Purpose of the Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Assistant to join our dynamic finance and tax team. The successful candidate will provide essential support in the preparationt, filing, and administration of various tax returns and related fund and investment tax matters. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a fast-paced environment and develop a strong foundation in taxation.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Tax Return Filings & Process:
- Assist in the filing income and indirect tax returns across several jurisdictions.
- Gather and organize necessary documentation and data to support tax return preparation by the tax compliance providers.
- Manage tax payment processes internally and with respect to tax authorities and tax service providers.
- Track tax filings to ensure accurate and timely submissions of tax returns in compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of internal tax forms (ie W8 and W9s).
- Tax Data Management & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation.
- Input and process tax data into relevant software and systems.
- Reconcile tax payments and service provider invoicing.
- Help develop procedures for exchange of tax information with internal and external stakeholders.
- Tax Compliance & Research:
- Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Conduct basic tax research and analysis as required.
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and regulations.
- Administrative Support:
- Respond to internal and external tax-related inquiries.
- Prepare and process tax-related correspondence.
- Assist with administrative tax components of fund launches, investor closings and investment closings.
- Assist with the generation and completion of internal tax reports/schedules.
- General Support:
- Provide general administrative support to the tax department.
- Assist with ad-hoc tax-related projects as assigned.
- Draft and formalize written policies for various tax processes.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Basic understanding of tax principles and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
