Apply educational learning to support the accounting department
Essential Job Duties
- Acquisitions (may do parts or all of the following)
- Review acquisition documents
- Prepare journal entries for purchase price allocation
- Record tangible and intangible assets related to the acquisition
- Review outside valuation firm reports on fair value
- Prepare memo related to the acquisition
- Intangible assets
- Update schedules for intangibles recorded in the acquisition journal entry
- Compute amortization of intangibles
- Reconcile schedules to the general ledger
- Technical Research (a high degree of training/supervision will accompany the following):
- Research accounting questions that may occur during period of the internship
- Document the results of the research in a technical memo
- Other areas may come up during this time. Our area is also responsible for all external reporting, Big 4 audit co-ordination and internal controls.
- Other duties as assigned
Skill/Requirements
- Accounting major who has completed all intermediate accounting courses
- Ability to read and comprehend legal documents
- Ability to co-ordinate thoughts into a written document
- Organized work habits
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
