Summary:
MediaNews Group is looking for a motivated and quick-learning Tax Accountant to join our team and play a key role in all aspects of our tax function. This position requires a "do-er" who is looking to be involved in all areas of the department, ranging from normal day to day compliance to taking on challenging projects with an opportunity to grow your skills professionally.
Candidates must reside in CO, FL, MA, MN, OH, PA, or TX
What you will do:
- Work side-by-side with our Senior Tax Accountant on core tax compliance tasks like preparing workpapers, filing extensions, and preparing income tax returns
- Assist with year end income tax provisions
- Take charge of tax notice resolution and actively manages online tax accounts across all relevant jurisdictions
- Prepare miscellaneous indirect tax filings, including sales tax and property tax filings while helping to maintain the tax fixed assets.
- Assist with data gathering for unclaimed property compliance and asset recovery
- Work with different teams across the company, building relationships and providing support
What you will bring:
- You have practical corporate income tax experience, preparing corporate tax returns
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required) and are eager to apply your skills in a dynamic environment
- You're comfortable with tax software and a master of Excel (bonus points if you have Oracle experience!)
- You're a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and isn't afraid of tight deadlines
- You're a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- You're eager to learn, grow, and make a real impact
The annual salary range is $62,000-$70,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
