Job Details:
This position is responsible for entry level maintenance position while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all Tyson policies and procedures.
Machinist Apprentice can work for a manufacturing firm or machine shop. Primary task will be to produce metal parts for industrial machinery mainly stainless steel grades of material. Will have to interpret blueprints and other specifications to select correct materials, tools, and fabrication processes and understand how to build a part off of the blueprint given them.
Tasks:
Must be able to operate a manual engine lathe and understand feeds and speeds for various finishes.
Must be able to hold tolerances within .0005 and use a tool post grinder to grind chromed diameters to size.
Must be able to operate and tram a mill.
Must be able to drill and tap holes.
Must be able to use a vertical boring bar and indicate parts with perpendicular faces.
Must be able to follow verbal instructions and/or read and interpret blueprints and prints.
Must be proficient in using inside micrometers, outside micrometers, calipers, vernier calipers up to 48 inches, telescoping gauges, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
Must provide their own 0–6" outside micrometers, two dial indicators with a minimum of 1" travel, 0–6" calipers, and steel-toe boots or shoes.
Must be able to push, pull, lift, or carry 70 pounds.
Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 45°F to 105°F.
Must be able to reach above shoulder level and stand for 8–10 hours per day.
Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson have a 180 days rehire waiting period and a 3 time limit.
Requirements:
6 months experience in mechanic work in the work history section of application or be graduate of an industrial maintenance training program.(qualifying candidates must take a tour before accepting job offer)
