Job Title: TASC Peer Support Specialist

Location: Alamance, Orange, and Chatham Counties

Hours: 40 hours/week, Full Time, M-F, Non-Exempt

Coastal Horizons Center seeks a dedicated and qualified Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to support justice-involved individuals by providing peer support services within the TASC (Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities) program. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the TASC Care Manager, community partners/resources, justice systems, and service providers to help individuals access housing, transportation, employment, and medical services. We have this specific opportunity located in:

Alamance, Orange, and Chatham Counties (Primary office is Burlington, NC)

The PSS promotes consumer engagement in TASC or other justice-related services, therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, and involvement in wellness services and recovery support, as well as engagement with primary care; completes all tracking and reporting requirements for outcomes and evaluation, and documents services provided; and assists clients in a variety of ways – transportation, sharing of personal recovery stories, etc. The PSS works directly with the Alamance, Orange, and Chatham County TASC Care Managers to ensure continuity of care and takes a team approach to the provision of services with TASC, probation, treatment providers, and support services.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Diploma/Equivalent or higher, combined with knowledge of wellness and recovery-based concepts. Lived experiences with mental health and/or substance use disorders and at least one year of recovery. Must have completed the Peer Support Specialist Certification Program.

Required Skills:

  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and similar platforms
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and remote collaboration tools (i.e., Teams, Zoom, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including legal systems, healthcare providers, and social services.

  • Competitive salary based on experience: $39,000-$41,000
