We are currently hiring a Tap Room Coordinator at the Sam Adams Downtown Taproom in Boston, MA.
The Tap Room Coordinator (TRC) is responsible for providing leadership to the FOH team and supporting day-to-day operations of the Tap Room by supervising floor execution and ensuring guest experiences run smoothly and safely. Settles cash, authorizes voids and applies discounts when appropriate. Takes ownership and resolves escalated guest issues. This role is focused on shift oversight, communication, and coordination while escalating decisions related to hiring, discipline, and major operational changes to Tap Room leadership.
What You’ll Brew
Operations & Floor Supervision
- Act as primary floor manager to the Support, Bartending, and Back of House teams during day-to-day operations in the Tap Room.
- Open/close the Tap Room; ensure spaces are guest-ready and operational.
- Serve as the on-shift floor supervisor ensuring smooth service flow, timing, and guest engagement. Participate in weekly huddles/meetings; communicate schedule updates, priorities, and program details to coworkers.
- Coordinate and hold daily pre-shift meetings.
- Responsible for driving sales and maintaining quality standards in the Tap Room, including product training and customer service.
- Responsible for training and daily operations in the Tap Room, including maintaining cleanliness, teaching proper pouring techniques, maintaining room capacity, and the safety of our guests through proper serving policies.
- Conduct training, both new and ongoing, of new FOH coworkers.
Guest Experience & Customer Service
- Model high hospitality standards; support coworkers in delivering timely, friendly service.
- Resolve routine service issues in real time; escalate complex concerns (e.g., beer/food quality) to the appropriate leader.
- Support internal customers as needed: Brand, Training, Sales and other departments with meetings, events, and a variety of other functions at the Tap Room.
- Enforce safety protocols daily including conducting and supporting required safety training. Provide customer service in retail center.
Cash Handling (Shift-Level)
- Responsible for daily financials, including Tip Share Calculation and Distribution, making change at the bank, counting out daily banks, running sales distribution reports from previous night.
- Perform shift-level cash handling tasks: verify banks, prep deposits, request change orders, and complete daily cash logs.
- Maintain accuracy and compliance with cash policies; escalate discrepancies to the Tap Room Manager/GM.
Safety, Compliance & Training Support
- Ensure coworkers complete the required safety, alcohol service, and compliance training as assigned; track completion and send reminders.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment for guests and coworkers; uphold sanitation guidelines.
Administrative & Policy Support
- Support scheduling, onboarding logistics, and training coordination; provide input to leaders on shift coverage and program staffing.
- Uphold company policies; document observations and escalate performance issues to leadership for action.

Education: High School diploma or GED
Required Experience and Skills
- 2+ years' experience in high volume retail/restaurant operations
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Ability to solve problems and handle high stress situations.
- Strong computer skills. Must be well versed in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Outgoing and personable.
- Open to coaching and constructive feedback from peers and leadership team.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Manage the ever-changing environment with customers arriving and leaving.
- Ability to recognize and manage conflict.
- Work overtime as needed which may require 12-hour days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, sometimes repeatedly.
- Regular walking and standing for long periods of time (up to 11 hours a day) on concrete, metal and grated surfaces.
- While performing the duties of this role, it may be required to climb flights of stairs, work from heights or on elevated platforms.
- Agile enough to step over, crouch or crawl under.
- Established dexterity to:
- Handle materials.
- Operation of equipment.
- Interface with computer systems with precision.
- Ability to pour, pick up a glass, deliver beverages to customers.
- Ability to handle kitchen and service equipment.

Level: 7IC
Pay (Hourly): In accordance with pay transparency laws the pay rate for this role if hired is $30.00 per hour. However, it’s important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location.
