Tank Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Detroit Refinery Tank Specialist will be responsible for overseeing both the construction and tank maintenance processes, ensuring timely and on-budget execution of all activities. This includes managing the construction organization, contributing to engineering design and constructability reviews, and overseeing the comprehensive planning, execution, and coordination of the Tank Program across the refinery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leads the budgeting, planning, and execution of the tank program. The execution includes the cleaning, inspection, repairs, and project installations while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets.
• Serves as primary point of contact for planners, field coordinators, and all contracting companies executing the Tank Program
• Develops and manages the Tank Program via P6 planning, hiring plan development, and rental equipment plans. Communicates to key stakeholders on both schedule and cost.
• Aligns with tank scheduler and contractors to finalize baselined schedule for each tank and maintains that schedule throughout execution
• Works closely with project controls group to manage each tank’s expenses along with the overall budget for the year.
• Provides updates to Maintenance leadership as well as the Planner/Scheduler per the maintenance requirements.
• Facilitates daily or weekly audits and inspections of the jobsite.
• Participates in contracting strategy decisions.
• Supports MOC and PHA processes as needed and ensures requirements are captured in schedule.

SKILLS:

• Proven experience managing large projects or maintenance programs
• Experience managing project or maintenance costs
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Detail-oriented, with a strong understanding of maintenance and construction work processes.
• Experience with procurement, contractor management, and MOC processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
• Primavera P6 experience is preferred, but not required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three (2) years or more of experience in the refining or petrochemical industry​ required.
• A valid driver's license is required.
