Position Summary 

The Talent (HR) Operations Generalist plays a critical role in supporting and executing key human resources operations across the employee lifecycle. This role is responsible for maintaining data integrity, ensuring compliance, supporting payroll and benefits processes, solving human resources related issues, and serving as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries. The Generalist will also lead HR-related projects and proactively audit and enhance core processes to ensure an efficient, compliant, and high-quality employee and candidate experience.

HR Projects & Operational Excellence 

  • Independently lead HR projects and initiatives 

  • Drive process improvements 

  • Support cross-functional initiatives 

Employee Support & Experience 

  • Deliver high-quality employee support as first point of contact for HR questions and concerns 

  • Provide policy guidance as appropriate 

  • Escalate issues as needed 

HR Operations & Data Management 

  • Owns the maintenance, updates, and overall integrity of the intranet, ensuring content is current, accurate, and user-friendly 

  • Process employee lifecycle changes (hires, promotions, transfers, terminations) 

  • Maintain and audit HRIS employee records to ensure integrity 

  • Identify where technology enhancements can create automation and efficiency 

  • Maintain and communicate information regarding personnel changes and employment status on organizational charts, employee rosters, and in HRIS. 

  • Generate HR reports and metrics, as needed 

  • Respond to all employment verification phone calls, emails, and/or hard copy mail requests.  

  • Continuously review process efficiency and experience to identify and recommend improvements 

Onboarding & Offboarding 

  • Coordinate onboarding processes and orientation including completion of all new hire paperwork, HRIS data entry, and supporting weekly Joining Joybound New Hire Orientation meetings (NHO). 

  • Oversee, coordinate, and continuously improve the Being Joybound onboarding program.  

  • Manage offboarding logistics and documentation. 

  • Continuously review onboarding/offboarding efficiency and experience to identify and recommend improvements 

Benefits Support 

  • Support administration and employee benefits eligibility including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life, FSA, and 403(b). 

  • Assist employees with benefits information, deductions, and problem-solving. 

  • Support benefits-related programs including open enrollment and associated wellness initiatives, ACA compliance and reporting, and administration of the Worker’s Compensation program. 

Training and Development 

  • Maintain employee training records and follow-up on enrollment and completion. 

  • Support in the coordination, scheduling of training sessions, and HRIS tracking. 

Talent Acquisition 

  • Support recruiting operations by posting job openings across job boards, company websites, and social media platforms, while assisting with interview scheduling, maintaining candidate records, coordinating candidate communications, and providing overall support to hiring managers. 

  • Review resumes, conduct initial candidate screenings, and recommend qualified candidates for advancement in the hiring process. 

  • Conduct background checks for staff, select volunteers, and other roles as needed, and ensure appropriate approvals and timely execution of offer letters. 

  • Continuously review applicant and hiring manager experience to identify and recommend improvements. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

  • BA in business administration, human resources, or other related field and two years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, work independently and within a team environment 

  • Customer service is an essential aspect of this position. Ability to communicate with the public, volunteers and co-workers in a pleasant, courteous and tactful manner always. 

  • Extraordinary personal and professional integrity, judgment, discretion, and confidentiality on all matters. 

  • Ability to support and work well with a diverse staff and community. 

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and respond to requests in a timely and professional manner. 

  • Experience to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate a large amount of data from different sources accurately. 

  • Ability to track, provide, and interpret staff data, such as turnover rates and reasons, training participation, demographic data, promotions, etc.  

  • Able to thrive and contribute to a fast-moving and evolving culture. 

  • Ability to work as a team and independently with general supervision and direction. 

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with relevant federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and ordinances. 

  • Demonstrated success working with HRIS Systems (Paycom preferred) and reporting capabilities, Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom. 

  • Affection for animals, concern for their welfare and a willingness to accommodate animals in the workplace. 

  • Pre-employment background check required. 

  

Physical/Environmental Requirements: 

  • Work environment includes constant exposure to animals and animal allergens. 

  • Push/pull moderately heavy objects up to 25 pounds. 

  • Lift and move objects up to 25 pounds for short distances. 

  • Kneel, bend, stoop, squat, reach above and below shoulder level, grasp and turn objects, stand, and/or walk frequently and repetitively throughout each shift. 

  • Flex the neck upward and downward; twist the neck and the waist. 

  • Sit for long and short periods of time while using a computer.  

  • Tetanus and rabies inoculations are required or must be waived. 

  • Drive an automobile. 

  

Hours:  

Full-time, nonexempt, onsite position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday). Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field, plus two years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with HRIS systems and reporting capabilities; Paycom preferred
  • Strong knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and ordinances
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Zoom
  • Strong oral and written communication, organizational, prioritization, and data-management skills
