The Role:

As our first Talent Lead, you’ll own hiring for the next stage of Sunrise’s growth.

You’ll report directly to the CEO, leading full-cycle recruiting across engineering, AI/robotics, product, and operations while putting in place the systems that make hiring structured, repeatable, and fast.

This is a hands-on, high-leverage IC role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, works directly with founders, and knows how to deliver quality hires without compromising the bar.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for key roles across engineering, AI, product, design, and operations — from sourcing to closing.

  • Partner with founders and hiring managers to define roles, sharpen requirements, and drive high-quality hiring decisions.

  • Source proactively through outbound, referrals, and niche technical communities.

  • Deliver exceptional candidate experience — clear communication, fast feedback, and mission-driven storytelling.

  • Build scalable hiring systems — scorecards, interviewer calibration, and ATS best practices (Ashby preferred).

  • Track and improve key metrics — time-to-fill, funnel health, and quality of hire; share insights weekly.

  • Lay the groundwork for growth — document processes and prepare for the buildout of a broader talent team.

Who You Are:

  • Experienced full-cycle recruiter who has successfully hired across multiple functions in high-growth tech or robotics/AI environments.

  • You like to understand the business inside out and use this knowledge/insight to help sharpen role requirements, find the best people and act as a true gatekeeper of talent across the organziaton.

  • Equally comfortable sourcing and closing senior technical talent and business operators.

  • Structured and analytical — you use data, scorecards, and evidence to drive decisions.

  • Builder mentality — enjoys creating lightweight systems and improving process quality.

  • Calm, clear communicator who builds trust quickly with candidates and hiring managers.

  • High integrity and ownership — you move fast without cutting corners.

  • Deep curiosity for how high-performance teams are built and a strong connection to Sunrise’s mission.

Good to Have:

  • Experience with Ashby or other modern ATS tools and automations.

  • Experience hiring deep-tech and engineering talent — ideally across robotics, AI, or similar complex technology domains.

  • Experience hiring for executive roles.

  • Familiarity with EU/UK and US hiring practices.
