PDT Partners, a quantitative investment manager, is looking for an outgoing, detail-, and process- oriented generalist to join our Talent & Culture team. Our ideal hire is someone well-rounded who can seamlessly handle the core HR role (on-boarding to off-boarding and everything in between), while also being empathetic, approachable, and pragmatic.

For this person, no task is too small or, over time, too large.  Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, as are intelligent decision making, integrity, and discretion. Aside from the team’s primary functions, HR is constantly introducing new and innovative programs and perks to PDT employees – everything from management training and mentoring to creative benefits and events.

This is a hybrid position and will require the person to work from our New York City office at minimum 3 days a week.

Why join us?  PDT Partners has a stellar 30+ year track record and a reputation for excellence.  Our goal is to be the best quantitative investment manager in the world—measured by the quality of our products, not their size.  PDT’s very high employee-retention rate speaks for itself.  Our people are intellectually extraordinary, and our community is close-knit, down-to-earth, and diverse.

Responsibilities:

  • Own processes or projects pertaining to the employee lifecycle from start to finish, always striving for improvement and refinement.
  • Coordinate all aspects of employee on- and off- boarding.
  • Handle employee visa/immigration processing, including working with external legal counsel on matters requiring the utmost precision and discretion.
  • Help build out our analytics, allowing us to better understand employee performance and engagement. This in turn will give business leaders the information they need to understand and manage their people as well as possible.
  • Be a resource for employees across the organization on topics ranging from everyday questions, career growth and development, to sensitive topics.

Below, you'll find a list of skills and experiences we think are relevant. Even if you don’t think you’re a perfect match, we still encourage you to apply because we are committed to developing our people.

    • 0-3 years of relevant professional experience.
    • Demonstrated experience with data and analytics, with deep knowledge of Microsoft Excel (bonus if you have experience with Tableau).
    • Highly organized, and meticulously detail-oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a strong sense of urgency.
    • A curious, practical, and resourceful mind — a problem-solver who is unafraid to ask for help while working in ambiguity and is also comfortable making decisions backed by sound logic and good judgement.
    • A can-do, energetic spirit matched with poise and maturity, especially when the unexpected pops up - able to handle conflict.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree and a strong academic background.

The salary range for this role is between $100,000 and $150,000. This range is not inclusive of any potential bonus amounts.  Factors that may impact the agreed upon salary within the range for a particular candidate include years of experience, level of education obtained, skill set, and other external factors.

    What We Do

PDT, which stands for Process Driven Trading, was founded by Peter Muller in 1993 as a proprietary trading group within Morgan Stanley. In 2013, after establishing a 19-year track record finding inefficiencies in financial markets, the group spun out of Morgan Stanley to become an independent investment management firm, PDT Partners.

Today we are a leader in the field of quantitative finance, known for our rigorous scientific, systematic, and model-driven approach to investing, with multiple billions in assets under management.

Peter Muller, Founder and CEO, and a small group of managing partners lead around 200 scientists, engineers, and professionals in New York and London.
