We're looking for a self-starter with a strong foundation in recruiting and sourcing to join our fast-paced, fully remote, and highly collaborative team!

As a Talent Advisor for Petco, you'll play a key role in finding top talent to fill roles due to attrition or staffing an entire team at a brand-new hospital, helping us grow and expand our veterinary services. You'll work in a fully remote capacity, alongside four other paraprofessional recruiters, and will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Talent Acquisition. You'll work across multiple states, giving you broad exposure and variety in your work.

We're looking for a trustworthy partner to hiring managers - someone who builds strong relationships, earns trust, and understands their needs. A highly collaborative team player with a can-do attitude and passion for problem-solving in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. The person who joins this team is someone who takes initiative and wants to help the team and their hiring managers succeed!

Essential Job Functions:

The partner must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Creatively leverage recruiting tools including the Internet, TAS, CRM, networking guides, referrals and job fairs to identify, source, interview, select, verify, negotiate offers, relocation and benefits, and onboard candidates for all levels of positions at the NSC, District Managers, General Managers and senior-level DC roles. This position must be able to include passive candidates in candidate slates, proactively cold call passive candidates, and keep relationships with passive candidates “warm” in a scalable manner.
  • Drive quality hiring outcomes by conveying an understanding of critical components of functional business results and proactively identifying potential hiring needs and role expectations, demonstrating knowledge of the internal and external labor markets, and influencing two-way partnerships with hiring leaders by establishing trust, setting strong expectations, probing inquiry, making difficult trade-offs, and managing priorities.
  • Proactively establish relevant internal and external business relationships to facilitate referrals, gain cross-functional business knowledge, and promote Petco's employee value proposition nationwide. Collaboratively share contacts and business knowledge with colleagues to enable enterprise-wide knowledge of the talent team and support a centralized recruiting model.
  • Leverage effective verbal and written communication skills to drive value from internal and external partnerships to manage the recruitment timeline and achieve performance deliverables. Examples of partnerships are external placement agencies, skill-based membership organizations, and internal business leaders.
  • Conduct behavioral- and competency-based interviews with candidates to determine knowledge, skills, and abilities compared to job scope and requirements. Evaluate candidate fit for departmental and organizational needs and make recommendations to business leaders based on these interviews.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent (GED) with two years of college-level courses in business, management, communications or education, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A 4-year college degree and/or a Human Resources certificate or PHR/SPHR is strongly preferred.  
  • Minimum 5 years of recruiting experience. Corporate recruiting experience strongly preferred. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with business leaders as a strategic partner through functional knowledge, business acumen and influencing skills.
  • Ability to adjust communication styles appropriately to work with a diverse set of leaders and associates at various levels across the organization.
  • Proven ability to develop creative and effective business plans and influence leaders to achieve win-win situations.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic work environment and demonstrate high comfort level in working with initially ambiguous and unstructured projects.
