About the Role
The Talent Acquisition & People Coordinator (TAPC) is a key member of the People & Culture team, with primary responsibility for recruiting, talent acquisition, and onboarding. The TAPC manages day-to-day recruiting activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, pre-employment requirements, and onboarding. The role also provides operational support through HRIS maintenance, personnel records, employee changes, reporting, and other People & Culture activities, while partnering closely with hiring managers to ensure an efficient and positive candidate and employee experience.
How You Will Contribute
Talent Acquisition & Recruiting – Primary Responsibility
- Manage the recruiting process from approved vacancy through hire, including job postings, sourcing, resume review, phone screens, interview coordination, and candidate communication.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, qualifications, priorities, and hiring timelines.
- Proactively source candidates and build pipelines through job boards, community partnerships, career fairs, colleges, and workforce organizations.
- Maintain accurate applicant tracking records and provide timely follow-up to candidates and hiring managers.
- Track recruiting activity and key metrics, including vacancies, candidate pipelines, and time-to-fill.
- Ensure recruiting practices and the candidate experience reflect Shelter House’s mission, iCARE values, and commitment to equitable hiring.
Offers, Pre-Employment & Onboarding
- Coordinate offer letters, background screenings, I-9s, and required pre-employment documentation.
- Enter and maintain new-hire information in the HRIS and ensure onboarding requirements are completed accurately and timely.
- Coordinate and support new-hire orientation and training.
- Partner with hiring managers to provide an organized, welcoming, and positive onboarding experience.
People Operations & HR Administration
- Maintain accurate personnel files, HRIS records, and employee documentation.
- Process and track approved employee changes and Personnel Action Forms.
- Support employee offboarding, reporting, record audits, and HR compliance activities.
- Provide administrative support for P&C trainings, employee engagement initiatives, invoices/check requests, and special projects as needed.
About You
Required:
- 1-2 years of Human Resources experience
- Proficient with Microsoft 365
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to foster a team environment
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of the organization
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
- Strong communication skills, you can explain anything to anyone. You can roll with the punches, you are okay with everyday looking different.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Have knowledge of employment law, both state and federal

- Annual TB Test is required
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds
