GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
The Traffic Accident Information System (TAIS) Support is responsible for entry of data contained in General Insurance System (GIS) claims files and police motor vehicle accident reports. Incoming data is captured with different definitions and priorities and the TAIS Support is responsible for converting data to TAIS standards prior to or at the time of entry into the TAIS database. The role compiles and reconstructs the accident circumstances from all related claims and data sources into one common incident report.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Checks collision claim files to ensure report data conforms to TAIS definitions and standards.
Enters the information into the appropriate TAIS data fields in the database. When needed, compiles, reconstructs, or adds detail to the conditions surrounding the accident from various information relating to the claim and puts into one common incident report. Includes reports from police reported motor vehicle accidents.
Verifies data from other data sources, such as collision claim files, resource manuals, driver and vehicle registration files, and mapping applications both in hard copy and electronic form.
Performs other clerical duties for TAIS and department support, including sorting and distributing of incoming mail, filing, photo copying, phone coverage, and mailing out reports.
Answers routine inquiries from internal and external customers.
Assembles materials and follows standard or supplied instructions to type documents.
Maintains standard file records and/or logs and may be required to search for and/or review file documents using manual and/or automated systems.
Provides front counter support.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Knowledge of coding (i.e., using simple codes accurately).
Skill in telephone etiquette (i.e., answering phones, handling the call, listening, professionalism and terminology).
Skill in completing forms accurately and proofreading documents for accuracy.
Skill in using Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel).
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
Grade 12/GED.
