Tactical Opportunities

Tactical Opportunities (Tac Opps) is Blackstone's opportunistic investment platform. The Tac Opps team invests globally across asset classes, industries and geographies, seeking to identify and execute on attractive, differentiated investment opportunities. As part of the strategy, the team leverages the intellectual capital across Blackstone’s various businesses while continuously optimizing its approach in the face of ever-changing market conditions.

Job Title: Tactical Opportunities, Financial Services, Senior Associate, London

Location: London

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and underwrite potential investments in the Financial Services space, from initial screening through to transaction completion
  • Supervise construction of detailed financial models for operating companies and transaction returns for relevant Financial Services subsectors (across both capital-intensive and capital-light business models)
  • Lead diligence process with external advisors / stakeholders as well as drafting and delivering investment memos for internal committees, with guidance.
  • Support junior members of the team in developing specialist Financial Services specific commercial and financial understanding
  • Monitor existing investments and interact with portfolio company management in order to support strategy development and financial / operational monitoring
  • Working closely with advisors / management teams on Financial Services-related topics

  • 6+ years of relevant work experience including buyside investing experience with focus on Financial Services corporate transactions
  • The candidate should have strong analytical skills, ideally possessing experience evaluating and underwriting potential investments in the Financial Services space
  • Deep familiarity of Financial Services specific concepts
  • Ability to work independently to form views on early-stage situations based on initial information and advisor interactions
  • The ideal candidate would have completed transaction experience in the banking, speciality finance and/or insurance spaces
  • Strong work ethic, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to learn
  • Operate with the highest degree of integrity, motivation, and intellectual curiosity
