Role Overview

The Systems Testing / QA Specialist is responsible for defining, planning, and executing comprehensive testing strategies to ensure enterprise‑level systems meet functional, technical, performance, and accessibility standards. This role supports large‑scale applications across GUI and non‑GUI environments and works closely with cross‑functional delivery teams throughout the full systems development lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on testing strategies, test plans, tool selection, and resourcing.
  • Plan, organize, and execute testing efforts for large enterprise systems, including system integration, specialized testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop and execute detailed test plans, test scripts, and test cases.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, regression, performance, stress, and load testing.
  • Validate system behavior under a variety of operational conditions.
  • Identify, document, track, and manage defects using industry‑standard defect management tools.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve defects.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using recognized automation frameworks and tools.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Validate data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across system components and databases.
  • Conduct data migration and transformation testing when required.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, including AODA and WCAG requirements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain comprehensive testing documentation, metrics, and reporting.
  • Contribute to release notes and user documentation.
  • Ensure testing practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

General Skills & Experience

  • Experience planning and executing enterprise‑level testing initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of structured application development and testing methodologies.
  • Experience using automated testing tools, version control systems, and CASE tools.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Strong understanding of QA principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Experience across all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines in fast‑paced environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall delivery models.
  • Experience with backend testing, data validation, and query writing.
  • Exposure to basic security testing and collaboration with security teams.
  • Experience developing and managing test data strategies.

Core Skills & Experience (40%)

  • 10+ years of software testing experience in enterprise environments.
  • Strong manual and automated testing experience.
  • Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall testing approaches.
  • Extensive experience with accessibility testing and compliance.
  • Proven expertise in end‑to‑end testing of complex systems.
  • Experience with test automation, performance testing, and defect management tools.
  • Knowledge of QA compliance standards and security testing practices.

Technical Skills (35%)

  • Strong database knowledge (e.g., SQL, Oracle).
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Git, or GitLab.

Soft Skills (20%)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration abilities.
  • Proven analytical and systematic problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

Public Sector Experience (5%)

  • Familiarity with public‑sector QA standards and practices.

Must‑Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience across functional, non‑functional, and UAT testing.
  • Proven ability to create detailed test plans, test cases, and reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with accessibility compliance testing (AODA, WCAG 2.1).
  • Experience using defect tracking tools to manage and resolve issues.
