Leidos’ Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) operation is seeking a Systems Test Engineer in Vista, CA to join our cross-functional engineering team using cutting edge technology to develop truly novel solutions that make travel and trade safer, healthier, and more efficient on a global level. As a member of the Leidos Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) team, you will be joining a diverse and dedicated group who are excited about producing industry leading screening technology. Our team produces a comprehensive suite of fully automated and integrated products for aviation, shipping ports, border crossings, and critical infrastructure customers. These systems provide threat detection by screening baggage, cargo, and people at checkpoints around the world.
The Systems Test Engineer will collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, Training, Field Service and customers throughout the development life cycle, to qualify and sustain Leidos security detection products to associated requirements/objectives at the factory and after field installation. Candidates must have experience working with integrated systems, testing both software and hardware, and ideally be able to function in both Linux and Windows environments. This position will identify opportunities to increase the level of automated testing of the software product, plan and execute strategies to achieve test automation objectives, and evaluate and integrate new testing tools, technologies, and procedures to achieve the organization’s technical objectives. Formal test reporting and documentation generation is required. The duties and responsibilities may change from time to time without notice and include but are not limited to the duties described below.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with cross-functional development teams to understand device data flows and interface control documents to effectively develop test approaches and plans to ensure complete and effective end-to-end verification of messages and images from devices and interfaces.
- Develop a wide range of tests and frameworks (integration, performance, regression, etc.) to ensure system software meets and/or exceeds product requirements.
- Install and test software in a systems environment as part of the product qualification process to satisfy customer requirements for deployment to the field.
- Establish test automation objectives with development team and design/execute plans to achieve those objectives.
- Identify regression test candidates for automation and plan automation activities with development team.
- Generate, execute, and document corresponding test plans and results.
- Partner with development team members to identify and debug defects early in the development process.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, reviews and retrospective meetings.
- Generate documentation packages and follow required configuration management processes to “officially” release software to manufacturing.
- Proactively lead group design discussions pertaining to software/system quality and report project status and issues to management and customers, as required.
- Assist Field Service Engineering in evaluating and troubleshooting installation anomalies to help customers through problem resolution.
- Utilize effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with all product line stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS Degree in technical discipline with 4+ years of prior relevant experience or MS Degree with 2+ years experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance (US citizenship required).
- Extensive experience working with LINUX-based operating systems/applications.
- Experience troubleshooting software/hardware in integrated systems.
- Experience testing with automated unit-testing tools and methodologies.
- Experience creating test cases to qualify defined system requirements.
- Experience with product development process and configuration management applications (Azure DevOps, Jira).
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to travel to customer sites, as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with networks and distributed software environments.
- Familiarity with Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with Containerized applications and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Familiarity working with Windows-based operating systems/applications.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
- Some lifting required (less than 20 pounds typically).
