Job Purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Systems Test Automation Engineering Intern in our Summer Internship Program.


The Systems Test Automation Engineering Intern will support the development and execution of advanced system and software verification strategies, with a strong emphasis on automated testing frameworks, high-voltage integration, and complex automotive communication protocols.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and executing automated test solutions across various test environments, including Electrical Bench, Power HIL, HV Integration, Dyno, and Motor Simulation
  • Support the creation and maintenance of test scripts using programming languages such as Python, C#, or similar technologies
  • Participate in regression and performance testing activities, helping to identify, document, and track issues using tools such as JIRA
  • Support test case development and help maintain traceability between requirements and test activities using tools such as Polarion
  • Assist in creating and updating test documentation, including test specifications, procedures, and validation plans
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to support product testing and validation efforts
  • Gain hands-on experience with model-based testing and simulation tools, including MATLAB/Simulink and NI VeriStand
  • Contribute ideas for improving test automation processes, test efficiency, and engineering workflows
  • Present project updates and findings to team members and stakeholders throughout the internship

What We Are Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or be a graduate from an accredited college; students pursuing Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred
  • GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or B average, upon initial hire date
  • Experience in Systems Testing, Automation Engineering, or Software Validation in the automotive or embedded systems domain preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and system-level debugging
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in agile development environments
