The Position

We're on the lookout for a technically adept and highly driven individual to join our expanding Global IT Organization. This role demands a broad range of expertise in managing Linux servers that host both customer-facing and internal applications.

Responsibilities include setting up new systems, troubleshooting existing ones, ensuring all systems are equipped with and correctly run the compliance management agent, and participating in resolving Major Incidents as required, including on-call duties.

Your Responsibilities

• Efficiently deploy, set up, manage, and oversee Linux servers within a Data Center setting.
• Ensure server health, uptime, monitoring, and disaster recovery processes are in place.
• Regularly update, fix, and secure operating systems according to security guidelines.
• Develop and maintain standard OS templates and use automation for quick virtual machine deployment.
• Support project teams with technical design, strategy, planning, and implementation for server and software deployments.
• Handle daily operational tasks, including change requests, ticket resolutions, server monitoring, and issue diagnosis.
• Document server configurations and maintenance procedures.
• Embrace DevOps methodologies to enhance automation and simplify routine operations.

What You Need to Succeed

Essential Skills

• Expertise in Linux server setup, management, and administration (RedHat, Centos, etc.).
• Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., Shell, Ansible, Perl, Python).
• Skills in performance optimization and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with Linux management tools (Red Hat Satellite, Katello Foreman, Spacewalk, FreeIPA, Ansible AWX etc.).
• Understanding of VMWare, networking, and storage basics.
• Ability to produce clear and concise documentation.
• Collaborative spirit to foster improvements, stability, and security within a team.

Desired Skills

• Knowledge in OS security and server fortification.
• Experience in supporting web-based applications on Apache Tomcat
• Experience with software deployment tools (Octopus, Jenkins, GIT, etc.).
• Proficiency in monitoring tools (Icinga, New Relic, Opsview, Zabbix, etc.).
• Understanding of Disaster Recovery strategies and their implementation.
• Knowledge of AIX or Solaris.

Experience Required

• Over 7 years of experience in supporting Linux servers in a production setting.
• An undergraduate degree in computer science or a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience is acceptable.
• Experience working in a diverse IT environment across multiple platforms and data centers.
• Experience in task automation using scripting languages like shell (bash, csh, etc.), Perl, or Python
• Proven ability to maintain comprehensive server documentation.
• Experience with ISO compliance.
