SUMMARY
This position is operationally focused and monitors, maintains, and supports hardware, software applications, databases, networks, security systems, other operational systems and functional requirements definition.  This may include applying domain knowledge and using technical skills to support customers, resolve problems, provide training as required, functional/technical requirements gathering, documentation, estimation, planning and project management

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regularly maintains, upgrades and supports existing systems to ensure operational stability for business groups.

  • Elicits functional requirements and documents these for use by the application development team, the architecture team and other operational teams.

  • Implements hardware and software changes based on new and existing system requirements and installs the necessary hardware and equipment infrastructure (power, cables, etc.) to meet these requirements.

  • Implements system health monitoring tools and monitors hardware and software systems to ensure that established SLAs are met.

  • Negotiates with vendors to ensure that all system requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Keeps abreast of all innovations and changes to AutoZone systems to ensure having the appropriate tools and training to provide quality support.

  • Provides training on systems to maximize operator efficiency and increase speed and accuracy of customer service.

  • Provides customer support by answering business partner questions and maintaining a presence at a customer point of contact.

  • Selects, develops, and motivates assigned staff.

  • Responsible for the development of less experienced AutoZoners; mentors and teaches.

  • Performs functional / technical requirements gathering, documentation, estimation, planning and project management on mid-size projects or parts of large projects.

REQUIREMENTS 
  • Level of formal education: A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), may include specialized or vocational courses.

  • Area of study: Computer Science Systems Engineering or related field

  • Years of experience: Two to three years.

  • Experience based on consistently demonstrated capabilities.

  • Knowledge of MS Office.
    Advanced functional and/or business knowledge.
    Technical skills may include experience with one or more of: 
    Operative Systems (UNIX, Linux, Windows) 
    Programming Languages (Java, C, C++, others) 
    Databases (Informix, Greenplum, Hadoop, Oracle, PostgreSQL, DB2/SQL,)
    Networking (TCP/IP, Networking, LAN administration, data analysis,  computer operations or customer service.
  • Solid problem solving, relevant domain and analytical skills.

  • Subject matter expertise in a functional area.

  • Expertise in at least one technical area.

  • Functional/technical requirements gathering and documentation.

  • Medium-sized project management – estimating, planning, controlling, and execution.

  • Typically is able to perform tasks with little or no supervision.
