At Serve Robotics, we’re reimagining how things move in cities. Our personable sidewalk robot is our vision for the future. It’s designed to take deliveries away from congested streets, make deliveries available to more people, and benefit local businesses.
The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta and Chicago while doing commercial deliveries. We’re looking for talented individuals who will grow robotic deliveries from surprising novelty to efficient ubiquity.
Who We AreWe are tech industry veterans in software, hardware, and design who are pooling our skills to build the future we want to live in. We are solving real-world problems leveraging robotics, machine learning and computer vision, among other disciplines, with a mindful eye towards the end-to-end user experience. Our team is agile, diverse, and driven. We believe that the best way to solve complicated dynamic problems is collaboratively and respectfully.
As a Systems Reliability Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring that our system is robust, durable, and reliable enough to handle urban sidewalks. You will own the development and execution of novel test methodologies for an autonomous sidewalk robot. When the robot fails some of these tests - and it will - you will be responsible for determining how and why it failed, and working with multidisciplinary teams to determine corrective design solutions.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop, plan, execute, and report out comprehensive component, subsystem, and system level reliability studies
Drive root cause analysis for failures found during testing, document findings, and clearly communicate information to the necessary stakeholders
Influence reliability early in the design process by contributing to design reviews, FMEA sessions, and system architecture and design discussions
Analyze experimental and field operations data to provide in-depth understanding of design reliability and provide actionable feedback to improve design reliability
Analyze field data on usage and environmental conditions to continuously improve requirement setting and in-lab testing protocols
B.S., M.S., or Ph.D in Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent engineering field
3+ years of experience in the design and test of electromechanical systems
Experience developing and executing comprehensive test protocols, namely thermal, ingress, vibration and shock testing
Experience in data analysis of test results including probability and statistical analysis techniques
Background in the physics-of-failure and design of experiments
Hands-on approach to the test and debugging of electromechanical systems
Knowledge of industry test standards from JEDEC, ASTM, and ISO
Fundamental knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and materials engineering
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for audiences ranging from technicians to senior executives
Experience in one or more of the following industries: automotive, medical, aerospace, robotics
Experience developing software scripts (Python, Bash) for automating hardware tests
Experience working in Unix/Linux environments
