We’re currently looking for a talented Systems Manager - OCS  to join our Central Engineering team. This role drives the corporate adoption of engineering principles throughout the construction lifecycle.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Works directly with project, field, and prefabrication management teams 

  • Performs site surveys, inclusive of all phases of the project.

  • Provides accurate material takeoff for entirety of project.

  • Reviews manufacturer submittal data for conformance to project specifications

  • Composes technical RFIs for submission and coordination to the Engineer-of-Record

  • Performs structural analysis as it relates to pole loading and deflection.

  • Completes final design of OCS structures including Cantilevers, Headspans, Downguys, balance weights and conductor rail.

  • Coordinates internal designs with prefabrication staff. 

  • Reviews designed and constructed elements with field installation. 

  • Resolves field installation issues, through on-site visits, while documenting findings.

  • Notifies project management staff of cost-incurring elements to project team.

  • Meet weekly with project staff, providing updates to scope status, percent complete, action items, and integration with others

  • Works with Engineering manager for strategy on multiple different projects

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

  • Provide project closeout deliverables, includes Structural Erection Diagrams.

  • Performs engineering labor estimates for pursuits.

Skills

  • Experience in planning, design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, cutover, project management, and construction management for traction power and OCS systems

  • Experience in providing review of documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity

  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills to help move toward the most effective, economical, and logical technical solution

  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs

  • Team Leader, with willingness to train and develop junior engineers

  • CAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel

  • Requires minimal training on software 

  • Requires minimal QA/QC for any work being submitted

  • Knowledge of AREMA, IEEE and NESC standards

  • Can read project specifications

  • Can read blueprints.

Requirements

  • 5-15 years in OCS construction, design, or operations.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with others

  • Strong work ethic and a cooperative attitude

  • Self-Motivated and team player

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil. Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (CA, MD, WA, TX, preferred)

Skills Required

  • 5-15 years in OCS construction, design, or operations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (CA, MD, WA, TX preferred)
  • Experience in planning, design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, cutover, project management, and construction management for traction power and OCS systems
  • Experience preparing and reviewing complex technical deliverables and plans
  • Proficiency with CAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of AREMA, IEEE, and NESC standards
  • Structural analysis experience related to pole loading and deflection
  • Ability to perform site surveys, material takeoffs, and review manufacturer submittals
  • Team leadership and mentoring of junior engineers
