The Role

Inside the Role

As part of the Truck Technology organization, The Integration and Coordination team is critical in both the upper left and right sections of the “V” model software development process and be the single point of communication between the global software development team and the regional vehicle platform engineering teams to develop the best in class commercial vehicle features and customer experience. This role will interface with Product Strategy and end user customers to translate market needs into technical requests. This role will also be responsible for regional release of electronic hardware, software and configuration parameters into Freightliner and Western Star production application IMACS and be the first point of contact for software issues from manufacturing. This position will be part of a team of regional engineers responsible for integration of all Truck Technology Software for domains Active Safety, Driver Experience, Vehicle Controls & Upfit, and Powernet & Architecture. This individual will design and release per serial logic and ensure successful Vehicle Electrical Programming (VEPs) of HiL, Test Trucks, and all production vehicles. The ideal candidate should be excited to be part of a key contributor to fulfilling Truck Technology Software team’s vision of world-class truck features.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Translate product definition into software technical specifications
  • Support intake of new feature requests from product strategy – clarifying the ask for input into engineering processes
  • Ensure successful Vehicle Electrical Programming (VEPs) test and production vehicles
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot software issues on test, production, and field vehicles
  • Ensure driver experience ECUs are configured correctly for test workshops and production
  • Resolve ECU and VEPs shopcalls, Custom Work Orders, and exemption requests
  • Release of driver experience hardware, software, and parameter design documentation
  • Triage all test, manufacturing, and field driver experience software issues
  • Resolve driver experience configuration issues
  • Participate in ongoing continuous improvement activities

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Vector tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape
  • Ability to attain a commercial driver’s license (CDL)
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks on hand
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Experience with DTNA systems and processes
  • Strong understanding of the US trucking market
  • Previous experience designing, diagnosing or troubleshooting ECUs and/or software
