KTS is seeking a systems engineer to manage part of the systems engineering team which is responsible for the development of requirements, design, integration and test of KTS products. This is a full-time position at the KTS facility in Des Plaines, IL.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical oversight, mentoring and training to a team of five to ten Systems engineers.
- Operate as a subject matter expert working with external customers to define systems requirements
- Manage development of products from design through test to verify compliance against requirements
- Staff projects including defining and prioritizing tasks. Provide workload forecasting and progress reports to ensure timely program execution.
- Support proposal efforts to include budgetary and schedule estimates
Educational Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
- Eight or more years of engineering experience executing engineering design with systems engineering experience
- Experience as a team or project lead
- Proven history of providing technical guidance to junior engineers
- Intimate knowledge of Systems Engineering best practices to include the Systems Engineering Technical Review process and V-Model
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
- Technical and integration background with a solid understanding of developing battlespace CONOPS and mission oriented solutions
- Demonstrated integration experience of various systems (ideally of aircraft systems)
- Proficient with the following interfaces including setup and troubleshooting: Serial (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485), Ethernet networking, PCIe, and MIL-STD-1553
- Comfortable with C/C++ or scripting language programming

Software Engineers:
Candidate should be able to perform on a technical team to develop software solutions using the latest technologies. The candidate poses a technical and integration background. The candidate has demonstrated software development on various platforms on various systems (ideally of aircraft systems).
