Job summary
VinFast’s System Design Team – EMI is seeking a skilled and motivated expert to lead the Systems Engineering and System Design of electric drive systems and system architectures for advanced vehicle programs. The team is currently focused on improving the current and next-generation traction inverters, and you will play a key role in ensuring project targets are achieved while coordinating, supporting, and motivating the engineering team as needed. This role offers an exciting environment with strong engineering resources and talented colleagues. 800/400V Dual Motor ePowertrain System – System concept & safety architecture
Key responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Strategy
- Lead system architecture development for EV drive systems and define long-term technical roadmaps.
- Drive cross-functional alignment on system requirements, interfaces, and design direction
- Provide technical guidance to engineering teams on system-level decisions and industry best practices.
2. Technical Excellence
- Lead the development and optimization of electric drive system architectures, including controls, interfaces, and system-level interactions.
- Perform advanced system-level analyses, including DFMEA, DV/PV planning, and ASPICE-compliant requirement handling.
- Drive system integration, calibration, and validation activities, ensuring compliance with functional safety standards (ISO 26262 ASIL C/D).
- Conduct simulations, data analytics, and failure-mode investigations to improve system performance.
- Ensure robust characterization of prototypes, mass-production units, and future product iterations through comprehensive testing and validation.
3. ProgramManagement
- Manage system-level deliverables, timelines, and technical risks across multiple development phases.
- Support planning and execution of DVP, testing activities, prototype evaluations, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards and customer requirements.
4. Talent & Organization Development
- Mentor junior engineers in system engineering methodologies, modeling practices, and validation processes.
- Foster a collaborative environment that enhances technical capability across the organization.
Requirements
- Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Control Engineering or equivalent experience
- 7+ years experience in automotive systems engineering with strong background in in electric powertrain, specializing in traction inverter development, e-motor systems, and HV system integration for electric vehicles.
- Strong background in ASPICE SYS.1–SYS.5, ISO 26262 functional safety (up to ASIL D), Cybersecurity (ISO21434) requirements engineering, and system architecture design.
- Proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary development (EE/Power Electronics/SW/Controls/Testing) and deliver high-voltage systems including inverter, OBC, DC/DC, HVIL, and associated safety mechanisms.
- Proficient with system management and development tools (Jira, CodeBeamer, Enterprise Architect, MATLAB, IBM DOOR).
- Skilled in system requirements analysis at both vehicle and customer levels, with familiarity in ASPICE processes
- Experienced in developing and leading system architecture design for electric drive systems, e-powertrain systems.
- Hands-on experience with DFMEA, FMEDA specification development, and DVP creation for electrical drive systems.
- Working knowledge of simulation and data analysis to support system-level optimization.
- Strong understanding of automotive standards and validation processes (compliance with ISO 26262, ISO 21434, LV123, LV124, CISPR 25, ISO 7637, Load Dump, etc.)
