The RoleWe are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and management of the Airborne Tactical Augmented Reality System (ATARS). This role involves coordinating hardware and software development, ensuring system requirements are met, and supporting integration with military aircraft platforms. The Systems Engineer will work across multiple engineering disciplines—including hardware, software, avionics, optics, and AR displays—to ensure ATARS is delivered to specification and ready for operational use.
ResponsibilitiesAllocate high-level ATARS system requirements into subsystem and component specifications.
Conduct trade studies and technical analysis to support design decisions and performance optimization.
Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including block diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), and requirements databases.
Manage allocations of weight, power, and other system resources across components.
Support hardware and software integration with avionics, sensors, and AR display systems.
Coordinate and oversee system integration and verification activities in both lab and aircraft environments.
Collaborate with test engineering to plan and execute verification and validation of ATARS requirements.
Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) processes and provide impact assessments for design or requirement changes.
Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring mitigation plans are in place.
Support government and customer technical reviews, demonstrations, and acceptance testing.
Serve as a technical point of contact across internal teams and with external partners to ensure alignment on system design and performance.
5+ years of systems engineering experience with complex, multidisciplinary systems.
Experience with hardware/software integration, particularly in aerospace or defense systems.
Familiarity with avionics systems, aircraft integration, or similar platforms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in trade studies and technical decision support.
Proficiency with requirements management tools and structured engineering processes.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-team coordination.
Experience with AR/VR technologies and head-mounted display systems.
Background in military aircraft integration, avionics, or mission systems.
Knowledge of relevant military standards, certifications, and compliance processes.
Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
