Job Description
At TOMRA, a global leader in technology, our Systems team is a dynamic group of architects and systems engineers who are deeply passionate about our field. We manage a diverse portfolio of innovative hardware and software products, continuously expanding into new and established markets worldwide. With TOMRA's ongoing growth, we are constantly developing exciting new products and solutions.
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will ensure the quality, integrity, and scalability of TOMRA Collection hardware and embedded software products, solutions, modules, and features. You will:
- Lead the translation of business needs into system requirements, providing guidance for successful implementation.
- Contribute to product and module roadmaps, resolving issues and investigating underlying causes.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, discipline leads, project managers, engineering, and development teams to develop the next generation of TOMRA reverse vending machines and solutions.

What are our main tasks and responsibilities?
- Strategic and Operational Responsibilities: Our team handles both high-level strategy and detailed operational tasks, adapting roles over time.
- Technical Strategy and Product Development: We establish long-term technical and module strategies, and contribute to defining and implementing optimal products and solutions.
- Architecture Development: We develop and manage current and target state architectures, guiding transitions through active project participation.
- Collaboration and Guidance: We work closely with engineers, developers, and product managers to discuss and implement solution strategies.
- Systems Architecture and Project Collaboration: We lead in translating business needs into system requirements, collaborating with software teams and project managers to ensure effective, secure, and cost-efficient solutions.
Qualifications
Who are you?
- Passionate about technology with experience in both hardware architecture and embedded software development. Experience with cloud platforms is a bonus but not required.
- Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- Ability to understand business needs and provide guidance for solution development using technical domain knowledge. Experience with IPR work is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Norwegian, comfortable communicating in both technical and business terms.
- Trustworthy and self-driven, capable of taking the lead and making things happen.
- Open-minded and constructive, with a willingness to ask questions, challenge, and engage in open dialogue.
- Structured, analytical, accurate, and quality-minded.
