Bring your biggest ideas to life with the world's fastest Graphics Processors.
The Role
Develop executable models, simulations, and analytical workflows for semiconductor SoC and IP systems. Define ASIC system requirements, translate system requirements into block- and circuit-level specifications, and analyze microarchitecture trade-offs involving interconnects, caches, memory controllers, and coherency. Collaborate with product management, architecture, and SoC design teams to establish performance, power, and area targets. Improve modeling methodologies, support model-driven design, and correlate pre-silicon models with post-silicon performance.
Summary Generated by Built In

Bolt Graphics is a semiconductor startup based in Sunnyvale, CA building the fastest and most efficient graphics processors. We pride ourselves on our first principles approach to solving problems. We are energized by our mission to reduce the barrier of entry for content creation and consumption. Our goal is to enable everyone to easily create, simulate and consume immersive experiences as vividly as they can imagine them.

Our Values

  • Be Fearless: Unmute yourself. Test boundaries and get proven right.
  • Remain Adaptable: Stay comfortable in a continuously changing world. If you’re wrong, concede and move on.
  • Educate Your Ego: Selflessly collaborate towards our shared purpose.

About the role:

As a Systems Engineer/Systems Modelling Engineer, you will Support the development of executable models, simulations, and analytical workflows that inform system behavior of our SoC/IP. This role is critical for the risk reduction and requirement-definition phase of the project.

What you'll do:

  • Understand and define ASIC system requirements based on product specifications and translate system-level requirements into block-level and circuit-level specs
  • Analyze micro-architecture trade-offs (NoC, caches, memory controllers, coherency fabrics) to optimize perf/power/area/fidelity.
  • Work closely with product management, architecture, and SoC design teams to influence product definition, PPA targets, and roadmap decisions
  • Support the development of executable models, simulations, and analytical workflows that inform system behavior
  • Contribute to design documentation and methodology improvements

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering
  • Experienced in converting document-based to model-based architecture
  • Strong understanding of CPU/GPU microarchitecture, memory hierarchy, and SoC interconnects
  • Familiarity with analytical/simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink...)
  • Programming experience in Python, Java, or JavaScript for model automation and analysis
  • Effective communication skills to articulate architectural features and tradeoffs to design architecture and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing model driven design using Simulink and auto generated code defines input/output parameters and ensures integration of the entire system or subsystem
  • Familiarity with firmware, compilers, DV, and RTL design concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to model, simulate, and optimize performance, power, and area
  • Post-silicon performance correlation, root-cause gaps, and updating pre-silicon models to improve fidelity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail to communicate clearly with stakeholders

Bolt is committed to building a diverse and inclusive environment in which we recognize and value each other’s differences as well as fostering a culture that promotes its core values: Professionalism, Integrity, and Respect. What We Do

Bolt Graphics is a semiconductor startup building the fastest and most efficient graphics processors. Power consumption continues to rise with minimal performance improvements, resulting in increased cost and negative environmental impact. Hardware hasn’t kept up with consumer expectations, especially in industries like architecture, engineering, film, advertising, gaming, & scientific research. Our customers came to us to solve their two main problems: performance and power consumption. At Bolt Graphics, we constantly ask ourselves, “Why is it done this way?” and “How can we do it better?” This mindset enables our team to achieve orders of magnitude faster renders and simulations and drives our goal for everyone to create, simulate, and consume immersive experiences.
