This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of the New Glenn SEIT system safety, reliability and risk team, you will work to assess risk, coordinate stakeholders, and provide technical expertise to drive solutions for the New Glenn orbital launch vehicle system and facilities. You must have a passion for mission assurance, a commitment to the fundamentals of system safety, and a strong capacity to work collaboratively on complex and interesting new problems.  You will be part of the SEIT system engineering team and will work across the New Glenn subsystems to support integrated solutions.  You will utilize system engineering practices across disciplines predicated to a high degree on your technical skills, ensure consistent system engineering implementations across the New Glenn elements and subsystems, and serve in a system integration capacity working with multi-discipline teams to arrive at technical system solutions. You will support the alignment and consistent implementation of New Glenn system engineering practices for system to lower-level program tiers as well as across program systems. You will also help develop health metrics to support insight into program health and tracking to major milestones.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate design teams in assessing technical risk and providing expertise in suggesting solutions.
  • Evaluate design products and requirements for compliance with our system safety, reliability, and risk processes and products against internal and external standards including Range Safety, NASA, FAA, MIL-STD-882, or ARP-4761.
  • Implement and maintain system safety, reliability, and risk processes and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Train and coach engineers on identifying and analyzing system safety risks
  • Work with systems engineering and subsystem cognizant engineers to identify and verify compliance with system safety requirements.
  • Assist in generating metrics and report on program system safety status
  • Participate in actively maintaining a healthy system safety culture

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace/electrical/mechanical engineering or related field
  • Management or Technical Team Lead of a system engineering team or equivalent
  • 8+ years of proven experience (in addition to what is listed above)
  • Strong system safety and mission assurance fundamentals
  • Experience interpreting and assessing risk
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Possess skills in strategic system thinking, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to be proactive in moving program forward through team collaborations to achieve timely decisions
  • Applicant must be a United States citizen

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $133,500.00 - $186,898.95 WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
