The Systems Engineer/Systems Engineering Database (SEDB) Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance, performance and updating of the requirements management database.
Responsibilities- Responsible for Metadata management and repository utilization.
- Assist other System Engineers with Schema development, development of scripts or automations as directed, performance management, cloud instantiation, maintenance, and database backup.
- Provide guidance to engineering design efforts through the development of systems engineering documentation, including concepts of operations, requirements specifications, requirements verification constructs (RVTM), interface requirements and interface control documents and drawings.
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise relating to systems modeling utilizing SYSML and UML.
- Create users’ profiles and ensure system security by careful allocation of user permissions.
- Create and modify project schema structure.
- Construct project queries and views for all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Configure and maintain workflows, this includes identifying opportunities to improve workflows through automation and custom development.
- Install and upgrade SEDB server and client installation.
- Ensure compliance with SEDB vendor license agreement, including number of installations, and monitoring licensing renewals.
- Monitor and optimize SEDB system performance using manual or automated tools.
- Perform and coordinate system upgrades across divisions and various IT groups and implement security polices as needed.
- Additional System Engineering duties assigned.
- BS degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology or Naval Engineering. Relevant experience may be substituted for academic qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 products (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point).
- Strong understanding of requirements management principles and best practices, including requirements allocation and derivation, “shredding” of standards into a digital equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge of either 3SL Cradle or Jama Connect features and functionalities, and experience with configuring data queries, workflows, custom fields, and integrations.
- Minimum 1-5 years of experience with:
- Contributing to the development of sections of systems engineering documentation, including system engineering plans, initial
- Capabilities documents, requirements specifications, and interface control documents.
- Managing system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible. with the defined system architectures, including Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF and Service-oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Assisting with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
- System requirements and stakeholder needs, including functions that may be logically inferred and implied, as essential to system effectiveness.
