Our Decision Management Platform squad supports and evolves some of Westpac’s most critical systems across a hybrid environment including mainframe, integration, middleware and SaaS platforms. As a Systems Engineer, you’ll help keep these environments stable, secure and performing at their best.
In this role, you’ll work across test engineering, integration support and application/platform support, while also contributing to ongoing improvements that make our systems simpler, faster and more resilient. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our decisioning and data services run smoothly, supporting the bank in lending, operations and risk management.

Ko tō mahi | What you’ll do
Support FICO SaaS decision management platform deployments and associated change tasks.
Support and enhance IBM DataPower JavaScript processing and manage deployments using CloudBees CI/CD pipelines.
Develop and maintain PowerShell utilities and scripts for MFT and platform support.
Design, develop, maintain and execute test solutions across hybrid environments including MVS, COBOL, USS/zLinux and Java processes.
Identify and analyse issues, determine root causes and develop automation or utilities to streamline processes.
Maintain and create automation in line with WNZL standards and templates.
Create and reuse unit tests, test stubs and drivers to support efficient quality practices.
Participate in integration activities to ensure the smooth flow of data and services across systems.
Provide L2/L3 application support to ensure platform stability, reliability and timely incident resolution.
Apply quality engineering practices, ensuring early defect detection and adherence to standards.
Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within engineering teams.
Participate in 24/7 platform support through PagerDuty as required.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
At least 5 plus years’ experience in a similar engineering role.
Strong test engineering experience across functional testing, test design and an automation first mindset.
Hands on experience with mainframe MVS, COBOL, USS zLinux and Java processes.
Experience working within multi system integration environments.
Strong problem solving skills with the ability to simplify complex systems.
Understanding of Agile ways of working.
Clear and confident communication skills with strong cross team collaboration capability.
Understanding of CI CD pipelines, particularly CloudBees.
Familiarity with DataPower and JavaScript based processing.
Scripting experience, ideally using PowerShell.
MFT experience is advantageous and training can be provided.
