The Systems Engineer (m/f/d) designs, builds, and tests complex or large-scale, systems, ensuring that the components of the system are integrated and function as a whole. Determines the overall structure of the system, organizes the interaction between components, and evaluates the influence of the environment.
This position reports to the Senior Manager Systems Engineering and is part of the R&D team located in Munich, Germany and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Systems Engineering & Lifecycle Support- Contribute to systems engineering activities across the full product lifecycle for laboratory automation platforms
- Support the definition and evolution of system architecture, including modeling, simulation, and trade-off analysis
- Participate in technology assessment and selection activities to support innovative and reliable system solutions
- Develop and manage system-level requirements, workflows, use cases, and specifications
- Support risk management activities in compliance with medical device regulations (e.g., ISO 14971)
- Contribute to system characterization and performance analysis
- Work closely with Human Factors Engineering, Systems Integration, Software, Hardware, Verification & Validation, Quality, Product Management, and Operations
- Act as a strong technical contributor within cross-functional project teams
- Apply established systems engineering best practices and contribute ideas for process and methodology improvement
- Support knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the systems engineering community
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field
Experience with complex systems in regulated industries such as medical devices, diagnostics
Experience with systems engineering (requirements management, risk management, architecture, verification & validation)
Experience with systems engineering tools for requirements, modeling, or risk management is a plus
Exposure to laboratory automation, robotics, or clinical diagnostics
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams
