Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Level 3, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position supports the Threat and Advanced Simulations Development (TASD) program and will split time between the Northrop Grumman facility and Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), in Colorado Springs, CO.
This role requires candidates to be on-site daily with very limited remote/hybrid work available.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Engineer to support the TASD team. The successful candidate will assist in the software development life cycle through requirements derivation, process development and refinement, Model-Based Systems Engineering model development, and contractual documentation. Collaborating with senior engineers, you will contribute to data-driven analysis and systems engineering workflows that ensure our simulation tools accurately represent current and future threat environments. Essential Functions:
- Support capability elicitation and derivation of requirements to realize requested development.
- Collaborate in defining and developing processes and procedures.
- Research and gain experience with missile defense concepts, space-based sensor phenomenology, and threat model trajectories.
- Work in close coordination with senior engineers to develop systems engineering artifacts supporting development and testing.
- Participate in the development and update of technical documentation, system requirements, and user guides for simulation tools.
- Provide briefings to customer(s) and stakeholder(s) related to technical solutions, process development and updates, and system engineering artifacts.
- Support training and orientation of simulation tools.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of related work experience, or a PhD in STEM with 1 year of related work experience
- Practical experience executing or analyzing results from military modeling and simulation (M&S) frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis, scripting, or automation using Python, MATLAB, or C++
- Expert understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts
- Experience with MBSE tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw
- Must be self-motivated and capable of executing technical tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret Clearance at the time of application which is required to start; with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with access to SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) ground test, flight test, or wargaming events
- Familiarity with missile defense concepts, space-based tracking/sensors, or orbital mechanics
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- A current active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance with access to SCI (TS/SCI)
