As a Systems Engineer, you’ll design, integrate, and optimize complex systems that drive the semiconductor industry forward. Your expertise in systems thinking and problem-solving is essential as you collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop advanced solutions to intricate processes and writing system specifications. You’ll be responsible for analyzing requirements, defining system architectures, conducting thorough testing, and ensuring seamless integration of subsystems. Optical System Engineer VI (E4)

SUMMARY

Join high-performance engineering team at the forefront of semiconductor inspection technology development. As an Optical System Engineer you will be responsible for next generation optical system concepts, architectures, and designs, and convert them into world best inspection and metrology products. You’ll be part of culture that encourages learning, experimentation, and professional growth.

Role RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead a team of top-notch optical, mechanical, electrical, SW, algo, and system engineers to deliver critical modules and subsystems of next generation optical inspection and metrology tools

· Operate in close collaboration with program management, marketing, hardware (optical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering) and SW & Algo development teams.

· Convert market & program requirements into high level and detailed system requirements.

· Develop conceptual optical designs, light and error budgets to support the development.

· Come up with and spearhead the development of novel technical solutions to address market needs.

· Identify and troubleshoot a range of complex engineering problems. Drive optical, mechanical, and electrical designers, engineers, and technicians to implement and deliver solutions as a team.

· Operate as highly technical project manager and leader in semi-matrix system. Maintain development on schedule and meeting cost targets.

· Use effective communication and presentation skills and tools including clear and concise visual tools like diagrams and scorecards, leverage available and emerging analytical analysis and AI tools to drive the design and development decisions with incomplete information. Provide effective documentation.

· Conduct effective system design reviews according to Program / PLC development process.

· Effectively develop vendors and suppliers to deliver necessary optical components and modules.

· Develop alignment methods and solutions, work with HW team on necessary tooling.

· Develop test plans and procedures. Design, construct, and calibrate optical and opto-mechanical benches to test key optical components, modules, and subsystems.

· Collaborate effectively with and support SW development, manufacturing, reliability, and service teams, generate requirements, procedures & guidance, transfer engineering knowledge.

· Support system integration during the assembly and final testing of new product designs.

Minimum QUALIFICATIONS

· MS or PhD in Optical Physics, Optical Sciences, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.

· 5-15 years of experience, ideally in semiconductor capital equipment industry with track record.

· Theoretical and working knowledge of optical physics and system engineering.

· Knowledge of industry standard design and analysis tools like Zemax or Code V, Python, MATLAB.

· Experimental lab and engineering design skills, DUV and imaging optics experience is a plus.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
