About the Role :

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Systems Engineer III to join our EUC Enterprise Engineering team at Elsevier.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure our users are working as effectively and efficiently as possible by delivering first-class IT services. As a Systems Engineer III, you will support the implementation and ongoing support of enterprise technology solutions across the organization. This includes complex system deployments, upgrades, daily administration, monitoring, and system documentation.

Responsibilities 

  • Assist Enterprise Engineering Leads with the execution and successful delivery of the EUC roadmap.

  • Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues and provide 3rd line support to internal squads.

  • Share knowledge and foster team development by hosting lunch-and-learn sessions, mentoring peers, and driving a shift-left culture within the team.

  • Deliver business-critical support to internal customers, ensuring SLA adherence and exceptional service.

  • Collaborate closely with squad leads and engineering leads to deliver key infrastructure projects.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting OCC/NOC escalations and providing after-hours support as needed.

  • Comfortable interacting with senior stakeholders, providing updates and input on technical initiatives.

  • Occasional travel and off-hours work may be required based on project timelines and business needs.

Requirements 

  • Excellent understanding of enterprise infrastructure and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, Active Directory, and other authentication services.

  • Hands-on experience with DNS and DHCP, and solid working knowledge of SCOM for infrastructure monitoring and alerting.

  • Strong grasp of Windows Server environments; experience with Mac and Linux enterprise systems is a plus.

  • Proven ability to identify automation opportunities, streamline processes, and reduce manual workload.

  • A self-starter with excellent communication skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
