Job Overview:
As a System Engineer I at Cambium Learning, you'll utilize your foundational skills to contribute to various aspects of system and infrastructure management. You'll work closely with senior engineers to support system enhancements, troubleshoot technical issues, assist in automation processes, and participate in on-call duties as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and implementation of system enhancements under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in troubleshooting technical issues related to infrastructure components, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Support software development teams in optimizing application performance and reliability.
- Aid in the implementation of automation processes to streamline tasks and improve efficiency.
- Contribute to capacity planning activities to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Provide support and assistance to junior team members as needed.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and incident response.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in systems engineering or related roles, preferably in a hybrid infrastructure environment.
- Basic proficiency in Linux and Windows server administration.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud architecture principles.
- Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus.
- Understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
