Who We Are
Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro has spent eight years developing autonomous driving (AD) technology and commercializing AD applications. The Nuro Driver™ is our world-class autonomous driving system that combines AD hardware with our generalized AI-first self-driving software. Built to learn and improve through data, the Nuro Driver™ is one of the few driverless autonomous technologies on public roads today.
Nuro has raised over $2B in capital from Fidelity, Bailie Gifford, T. Rowe Price, Google, and other leading investors. We’ve partnered with some of the world’s most respected brands including Uber, FedEx, Domino’s, Walmart, Kroger, and 7-Eleven.
About the Work
- Create requirements for the behavior of an autonomous system to operate safely within specific contexts in our ODD.
- Implement metrics and behavior models in Python to verify that the autonomous system is meeting these safety requirements.
- Propose tests to verify requirements using a combination of synthetic simulation, on-road logs, and closed-course testing.
- Quantify coverage of the tests for our ODD, ensuring simulation realism and relevance for deployment.
- Work closely with Behavior, Perception, Data Science, and Product while developing acceptance criteria for metrics and tests.
- Partner with simulation infrastructure and test integration teams to set up automated verification workflows.
About You
- Deep understanding of how robotic systems work and ability to leverage this knowledge to build requirements and tests for autonomous vehicles.
- Experience creating behavior requirements for SAE L2/L3/L4 systems to operate safely.
- Hands on experience in systems engineering.
- Ability to read code in C++ and write code in Python.
- Strong communication skills - both verbal and written.
- 5+ years of technical work experience in a relevant area, of which 3+ years should be in robotics SW.
Bonus Points
- AV background. Can be any autonomous vehicle not just terrestrial, we have had successful candidates from aerial vehicles, flying cars, autonomous boats, spacecraft, rovers, etc.
- Hands on coding day-to-day.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as STPA, ISO-21448, ISO-26262.
