Job Description
As a System Design Engineer, you will be part of Rockwell Automation's Global Systems and Solutions Business, focused on providing automation and process solutions for multiple industries. You will responsible for creating and maintaining engineered standard designs of industrial control panel solutions to be used a starting point by other engineers to fulfill customer requirements on sales orders. You will also get to lead new solution development, cost reduction, quality improvement, process documentation, and other projects to help bring our group to the next level. You will report to the Engineering Change Manager. Working together, you will establish goals, work plans, and execution development tasks for a solution and work on project assignments. You will ensure coordination with several product or solutions groups to ensure compatibility and integration with established products. You will be in a hybrid working arrangement splitting time between remote work and being at our Monterrey, Mexico facility. Other locations will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Create electrical schematics, panel layout drawings and CNC instructions, Bills-of-Material, and assembly/use instructions for a variety of equipment, including VFD line ups and custom control panels. Create and maintain engineered standard designs or templates in the new common engineering work station (CEWS 2.0).
- Collaborate with the CEWS project team and Business Systems and Data team to make enhancements to the tool and improve user experience.
- Review project hardware/software for compliance with applicable codes/standards and assure personnel/machinery safety practices are implemented
- Coordinate customer requirements with engineering and other appropriate departments to ensure customer satisfaction
- Analyze customer's requirements to determine the control system solution and determine applicable industrial control configuration/architecture
- Research different ways to make our customers lives easier
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline
- Minimum of 2 years related experience in electrical design, including schematics and panel layout in 3D CAD tools
- Minimum of 2 years related experience in control systems engineering which relates to variable speed drives and industrial automation systems
- Experience of control system applications throughout the project lifecycle from initial design concepts through installation and subsequent client support
- Knowledge of Allen-Bradley Powerflex drives, and PLC's.
- Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to industrial control systems including IEC, NEC, NFPA79, UL508A/C, and UL698.
- Knowledge of process automation in all project phases, including detail design generation, programming, systems integration methods, testing and on-site startup.
