This is a greenfield initiative within Ericsson's RAN organization. You'll work at the intersection of AI, software architecture, and systems engineering, building intelligent agents, knowledge frameworks, and tooling that amplify engineering expertise. The challenges are ambitious, and the solutions have yet to be defined.
The goal is not to replace expertise, but to elevate it. By reducing repetitive work, AI allows engineers to focus on innovation, problem-solving, and high-value technical decisions.
You'll have the opportunity to shape the direction of this work and influence how future wireless systems, from 5G to 6G and beyond, are designed and developed.
As a Systems Architect - RAN Semantic Data, you will drive how RAN system knowledge, design decisions, and technical structures are captured, represented, and governed. You will define the methods, standards, and tooling that transform studies and development activities into consistent, traceable, and machine-readable models, while driving their adoption across the organization.
Leveraging modern approaches such as knowledge graphs, ontologies, automated pipelines, and AI-assisted documentation, you will collaborate with architects, system engineers, and development teams across multiple RAN domains. Together, you will establish a common architectural language and a sustainable capability that keeps design intent, decisions, and implementation aligned as the system evolves.
What you will do• Drive the establishment of architecture modeling and decision management for RAN systems, ensuring consistency, completeness, and traceability.• Own and continuously improve the way RAN architecture decisions are captured, structured, and modeled, with a focus on machine-readable artifacts • Define, refine, and promote standards, guidelines, and best practices for capturing and modeling architecture and architecture changes across the organization.• Act as a key driver for change in how architecture knowledge and design decisions are captured, shared, and evolved, influencing stakeholders across multiple units and projects.• Evaluate, introduce, and maintain state-of-the-art methods and tooling for architecture modeling and decision management (e.g. knowledge graphs, automated documentation pipelines, AI-assisted documentation).• Stay on top of industry and academic developments in architecture modeling and decision management and related AI/automation technologies, and translate relevant innovations into concrete improvements in Ericsson's ways of working.• Collaborate closely with RAN architects, system engineers, product owners, and development teams to ensure documentation reflects the actual system behavior and design.• Ensure documentation supports traceability from requirements and studies to implemented solutions, enabling efficient impact analysis and decision follow-up.• Mentor and support colleagues in adopting new documentation practices, tools, and frameworks, building a strong community of practice around architecture modeling and decision management.
The skills you bring• Strong understanding of RAN systems, including architecture, key functionalities, and deployment scenarios.• Proven experience (6+ years) in systems engineering, product development, or semantic data modeling.• Demonstrated ability to capture and maintain system designs and evolution in a structured, reusable, and maintainable manner, including generation of machine-readable artifacts such as Architecture-as-Code.• Practical experience, or a strong understanding, of modern knowledge representation approaches, including Knowledge Graphs (e.g., Neo4j), Semantic Modeling (RDF/OWL), and automated documentation pipelines.• Experience working across complex, multi-stakeholder organizations, with the ability to influence practices and drive adoption of new ways of working.• Familiarity with architecture description standards, such as ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010.• Ability to transform complex technical information into clear, concise, and well-structured outputs for both technical and business audiences.• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to build alignment around common standards, processes, and best practices.
