Summary: The Systems and Cloud Engineer role is to maintain and administer the firm’s systems and cloud services (such as Software as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, etc.) as well as the hardware and virtual infrastructure including servers, appliances, server-based applications, security devices and related components to achieve secure, high availability and high performance of the various business applications supported. This individual will work with our engineering team to develop, implement, optimize, and maintain cloud-based solutions primarily, as well as support and administer on-premise solutions. You will be responsible for identifying, deploying and migrating services to the cloud, and ensuring the security of the cloud infrastructure. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, administering, supporting, and optimizing cloud solutions and services, as well as on-premise solutions, as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works well within a team environment, supporting other IT personnel and end users.

  • Uses critical thinking to ensure smooth operations, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues.

  • Regularly reviews and improves existing systems as well as deploys new solutions.

  • Collaborates with engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal solutions, primarily in cloud as well as on-premise systems.

  • Identifies and migrates appropriate workloads to the cloud.

  • Maintains cloud infrastructures in accordance with best practices and firm security policies.

  • Maintains and monitors cloud services.

  • Analyzes new and existing public cloud services and creates solutions that meet stakeholder requirements and standards.

  • Analyzes and implements configuration changes and assists in the design of cloud related solutions to meet both functional and technical requirements.

  • Designs and implements secure, scalable, and innovative solutions to meet firm requirements.

  • Creates and updates applicable technical documentation.

  • Identifies and resolves infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.

  • Ensures efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with firm security policies and best practices in cloud security.

  • Designs and maintains servers and appliances, including e-mail, file, print, database, document management, directory services, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and applications software in compliance with established policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, and licensing requirements.

  • Creates, administers, and maintains end user network and system accounts, permissions, and access rights, including e-mail distribution lists and memberships.

  • Designs hardware and software solutions. Troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software problems.

  • Provides regular and on-call technical support in response to phone calls, direct requests, ticket requests, and/or e-mails regarding cloud services, network, hardware and software problems.

  • Recommends, schedules, and performs cloud services, network. hardware and software improvements, upgrades, patches, and repairs, in accordance with established change management processes.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains procedures for systems and network administration.

  • Collaborates with other team members to design and recommends optimal network design topologies and configurations.

  • Supports research, development, and implementation of networking projects and new technology installations.

  • Performs system and data backups and recovery. Assists in development and maintenance of business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response plans. Responds to emergency conditions in accordance with appropriate plans.

  • Prepares, maintains, and adheres to procedures for logging, reporting, testing, and monitoring network performance.

  • Performs additional IT-related tasks as necessary, including user- and desktop support functions.

  • Stays current with industry trends.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional customer service attitude and focus.

  • 4 years or more of relevant work experience.

  • 2 years or more of experience in the field of cloud computing.

  • Microsoft Azure experience preferred, with applied knowledge in Entra, Intune, Conditional Access policies, Management Groups, Subscriptions, Resource Groups, Resources, Virtual Machines, etc.

  • Working knowledge of Cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Working knowledge of scripting technologies such as Python, PowerShell, IaaC, etc.

  • Demonstrable experience building and maintaining solutions in Azure, or AWS or GCP.

  • Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP and/or other IT certifications preferred.

  • Experience in cloud monitoring and alerting services and capabilities.

  • Critical thinker with strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Demonstrated, applied understanding and technical knowledge of network protocols and fundamentals, including: TCP/IP, SMTP, HTTP/S, SFTP, SSO, LDAP, ARP, network troubleshooting tools (traceroute, ping, etc.).

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in a technology or business-related field preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Ability to solve complex technical problems and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to support project team to prioritize activities and provide deliverables as planned.

  • Strong understanding of problem management, change management, and IT policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Ability to communicate well via written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to present technical ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.

  • Work may occasionally require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position and requires on-call availability.

Working Conditions:
