  • Implement and monitor system backups, patching, updates, and configuration changes to maintain security and system integrity.
  • Partner with cybersecurity staff to apply compliance-related security controls, assist with vulnerability remediation, and support audit readiness.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, administrative changes, incidents, and resolutions.
  • Support IT infrastructure projects, including upgrades, deployments, and system integrations.
  • Collaborate with the IT Systems Manager to identify opportunities for system improvements and contribute to long-term IT planning.
  • Ensure all IT operations comply with organizational cybersecurity policies, Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, and security best practices.

THE SKILLSET:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2–5 years of hands-on system administration experience, preferably in a DoD or highly-regulated IT environment.
  • Possess a DoD Manual 8140.03 or DoD Directive 8570.01 Information Assurance Technical II certification or able to obtain one within 6 months of hire (e.g., CompTIA Security+); higher or additional certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware) are a plus.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux administration, networking fundamentals, and troubleshooting complex IT issues.
  • Experience with account management, permissions, patching, imaging, and system hardening.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.
