Leidos is seeking a Mid-level Forward Deployed Network Administrator to join our Network Engineering Team within the Engineering Operations group at our Chantilly, VA location. This role supports critical network infrastructure through advanced systems administration and troubleshooting tasks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, administration, support, and maintenance of network systems including associated hardware, ensuring reliable and secure network operations.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network issues in support of Tier 2 tickets including port resets, activations, and break/fix baseline problems.
- Analyze syslogs, perform firewall ACL modifications, route tracing, and interface status monitoring on Cisco routers and switches.
- Execute patching, updates, and maintenance of network devices and systems.
- Support systems infrastructure management including backup, recovery, performance tuning, and storage allocation.
- Identify and recommend system functional specifications and best practices.
- Review system performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to influence solution design and operational approaches.
- Develop innovative technical solutions to complex multi-disciplinary network challenges.
- Must have an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with at least 6 years of experience in systems/network administration.
- Must pass or have a current Customer Medical Screening.
- Expert knowledge of network systems, including Cisco IOS commands, VLANs, firewall ACLs, and routing protocols.
- Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as SolarWinds, traceroute, ping, and ARP tables.
- Experience managing and supporting physical and virtual network systems, including patching and configuration.
- Strong troubleshooting skills on Cisco routers and switches.
- Familiarity with Web Help Desk ticketing system.
- Network+ certification or equivalent is required.
- Ability to perform detailed syslog analysis and manage network interface statuses.
- Additional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Security+, or CISSP.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud networking concepts.
- Familiarity with automation/scripting tools for network administration (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Prior experience in a forward deployed or government contractor environment.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions and IT infrastructure best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience influencing cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor junior team members.
- Master’s degree or Doctorate in a related technical field.
